For the past month, I’ve been investigating grammar tools that detect spelling, style issues, grammar, and word choice mistakes. I believe addressing these areas will strengthen my writing.
There are many tools on the market that offer these types of services. A few of the best grammar checkers include Grammarly, Ginger, WhiteSmoke, ProWritingAid, and Hemingway.
Each of these products has strengths and weakness, so I don’t feel one tool offers everything that a writer needs. So, after researching and trying some tools, I selected –Grammarly and ProWritingAid.
I found that Grammarly is easy to use and gives great feedback on how to fix your work. It also has a mobile version, supports Chrome, Firefox and Safari browsers, checks for plagiarism and provides translation.
ProWritingAid has a lot of customizable features. You can add words to their dictionary, and it has genre-specific writing styles. You can run reports on Readability, Diction, Dialogue, and Alliteration.
I have been using these tools, and I see an improvement in my writing. They catch things that sometimes as writers we miss, such as sticky sentences and overused words.
So, if you want to improve the quality of your writing, think about using a grammar checker. You will be please with the results.
There are so many software products and apps available to help us in our everyday lives. As a writer, we want to make sure that we promote that book that we have spent a year writing for ourselves and our readers. We can do that by including technology in our marketing process.
Currently, there are several tools that an author can use such as Scrivener, Pages, Freedom and Evernote to help you write books.
Did you know there are tools available to market you work? Some writers use Youtube for their book trailers. While others use Twitter to tweat information about their books or let their readers know when a book is coming out.
You can start a Facebook contest, a Instagram campaign or use Goodreads for blogging.
What ever you choose, do your homework and be willing to invest the time to make promoting your book a success.
